Steps for creating a video loop

Consider the file size

We don't want to upload videos that are many, many megabytes. Aim for a file size around 500 KB.

How to reduce the video size:

Make sure the clip is as short as possible.
Compress and scale down videos using videosmaller.com.
Homepage videos need only be 320 or 480 pixels wide.
Remove audio from video on videosmaller.com
Be sure to check the video quality after you compress/scale it

Upload the video to BucketBot in Slack

Send him the video and he'll upload it to our Amazon S3 bucket. He'll give you a published https URL.

Generate video code

Copy BucketBot's URL and visit the HTML Snippet Generator's tool for generating video loops.

Note: These steps are great for small video loops on the homepage. Topper videos and loops displayed at larger widths require more planning (and code). Ask your friendly neighborhood web developers for assistance.
